Some things never die, and Poot Lovato is one of them.
While celebrating her 31st birthday, Demi Lovato took a moment to have the last laugh over a meme that has followed her since 2015. The singer took to TikTok to show off her three birthday treats, one of which bore a fun surprise.
"So I just want to show you guys my cakes," Demi can be heard saying in the August 20 post. "This one is so gorgeous," she says while panning over a sparkly silver heart-shaped cake, adding, "this one is so cute," about a rainbow-themed cookie cake.
"And this one is so POOT," she says before turning the camera to cupcakes which bear a picture of the hilariously infamous meme. The meme features what looks like a picture of Demi caught in camera flash, and at the time of its creation soon spiraled into a joke that the image was actually of Poot—Demi's long-lost twin. The 31-year-old captioned her TikTok of the cakes accordingly, writing, "FREE POOT."
And in the eight years since the meme first debuted on Tumblr, the "Heart Attack" artist has learned to love the joke.
"When Poot went viral, that actually sucked because I thought that was a real picture of me," Demi told Harper's Bazaar in a video shared July 14. "And I was like, 'Oh no that's a really bad angle.' But Poot was photoshopped, later I felt better about it because I realized that wasn't my face."
"It was definitely weird when it went viral," she admitted, adding, "but it's really funny to look back on."
And her 31st isn't the only birthday the Camp Rock alum has celebrated this year. Back in March, Demi posted a sweet tribute to her boyfriend Jutes—born Jordan Lutes—on the musician's 32nd birthday. The pair first debuted their relationship last August.
"My sweet angel - it's officially your birthday!!! I couldn't be more excited to celebrate you because I couldn't be more in love with your gorgeous, funny, sexy, talented self," Demi captioned her March 28 post, which featured a carousel of images of the happy couple. "I've waited my whole life to find you and I can't wait to celebrate so many more birthdays together. you're a literal dream come true and I'm so grateful to call you mine. Have the best birthday my love."
And for his part, Jutes showed Demi the love right back.
i'm the luckiest guy on earth," he commented on her post. "thank u for loving me so much and making me laugh all day every day. ur my soulmate best friend dream girl and i can't wait to be old af w u. i love u so much."
